The Madison East Kiwanis Club hosted this second annual event with 93 members and guests attending. Seven Division 3 Clubs were represented (Madison East, Madison West, Downtown, Stoughton, Belleville, Monroe, Madison After Hours Club, and Middleton) along with two Division 4 Clubs (Columbus and Baraboo). A luncheon was served followed by two speakers – WI/UM District Governor Justin Hahn and U.W. Hockey Coach, Tony Granato.

The Cambria Kiwanis Club hosted a live auction and a silent auction to raise funds for the Old Mill Foundation Didion Benefit Fund on July 15^th.  This is a fund that was set up to help those impacted by the Didion Mill explosion that occurred in our small community.  Thanks to the hard work of the Kiwanis members, the generous businesses who donated items, and the supportive people of our community and surrounding areas we were able to raise over $14,250.00 during the auctions. 

The event also consisted of an evening meal thanks to the wonderful people at the Columbus Pick N Save and Roundy’s.  They served over 90 people a delicious meal and raised an additional $1,237.00...

Bill Elliott was a great asset to the Chilton club. In his 55 years of service, he served 3 terms as President, served on the Board of Directors and numerous committees. He was a Hixson award receipent. He was instumental in establishing the clubs' scholarship. Bill was the Charter Representative for the Kiwanis sponsored local Boy Scout Troop for many years. His service will be missed not only by the Club but by the community.

This past Tuesday, June 6^th, the Lakeland Area Kiwanis Club installed three new club members which represented a total percentage of growth since October 2015 of 220%.  President Bob Bertch along with Kiwanis dignitaries, Kiwanis District Governor John Collins, First Lady Gayle Collins and Lt. Governor Roger Krogstad welcomed the 3 newest members into the club while club members, family and friends joined them for dinner at Norwood Pines Supper Club.

Santa and Kiwanis give homeless kids a Christmas to remember

The room went from a roar to a hush when Santa walked in. The kids knew they would soon get their chance to tell the big man their hopes and wishes this Christmas. 

For too many of the 90 kids at the Breakfast with Santa hosted by the Appleton-Fox Cities (Wisconsin) Kiwanis Club, this would be the only time they would get a gift during the holiday season. Their immediate futures are in flux. The kids, who range in age from infants to teenagers, are homeless—living in shelters because of various family circumstances. The Kiwanis Club of Greater Sheboygan has announced a series of concerts at the Stefanie H. Weill Center for the Performing Arts in Sheboygan.

The first concert will be The Guess Who on Thursday night November 10 at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $45 and are available online at www.weillcenter.com or in person at the ticket office.

According to Wikipedia, The Guess Who is a Canadian rock band, formed in Winnipeg in 1965. Initially gaining recognition in Canada, the group also found international success from the late 1960s through the mid-1970s with numerous hit singles, including "No Time", "American Woman", "These Eyes" and "Share the Land".

Proud grandmother Saphronia Purnell watches as Danz Elementary student TariJah Wooden was awarded an Ipad at Communication Pathways in De Pere.
The Ipad gift was the latest in an ongoing program of the Kiwanis Clubs in our area to help children with Autism improve communication skills.

Dave Lerdahl’s Visit with the Madison Mallards

Dave Lerdahl, a 58-year member of the Kiwanis Club of Madison East, was paid an exclusive visit by Madison Mallards Baseball staff and players. Dave, currently a resident of St. Mary’s Care Center in Madison, was recognized by the Mallard’s for organizing Madison East’s annual trips to the ballpark to watch the Mallards play. Dave organized one of the first group visits to the park not long after the Mallards came to Madison in 2001.
