Message from the Governor

The numbers are in after our halfway point through the year and I could not be prouder of where we are at as District. We are currently at a net increase of 86 members for the District and that is impressive. I appreciate all of your hardworking and efforts into growing and strengthening your clubs. We still have 5 more months to go, so let's keep recruiting and introducing Kiwanis to all members of our communities. Share your passion for service, and together, let's make our clubs even stronger!

We have our final plans for the playground build at Camp Wawbeek which is part of the Governor's Project this year. Below you will see an image of the final rendering of the playground. This playground will be a fully accessible playground that all campers will have the privilege of playing on. I couldn't be more excited and honored to help play a role in bringing this playground to Camp. More information will be mailed to your clubs, but the project is going to be roughly about $60,000. We need your help to fulfill the funding of this project. Your club will have an opportunity to sponsor a piece of the playground. Again, more information is being mailed out. Aside from raising funds, we will be building the playground which helps to lower the cost. The playground build will be Wednesday August 15th at Camp Wawbeek. I personally invite you and your clubs to come hang out at Wawbeek for the day and help us make this playground happen in a day! Please let me know if you have any questions on the project or about the build.

We will be having a Bingo fundraiser on May 16th in Milwaukee from 8pm-10pm, where all proceeds will be donated to the playground. Let me know if you would like more info.

Also, please note that we are collecting funds for Camp Baycliff as well. To make a contribution to the Governor’s Project for Baycliff, please note on the donation that it is for Baycliff. Camp Baycliff will use these unrestricted funds as necessary for the operations of the Camp.

We are looking for Kiwanians who would be interested in becoming a club coach. This is a great opportunity that allows you to help Kiwanis Clubs in a coaching capacity. We have a Club Coach training on August 27-28th in the Dells and are looking for Kiwanians to become certified. Please contact Anna Bruhn for more information.

Do you have someone in your club that has invited 5 or more new members into your club? The Ruby K pins recognize those members that have done just that. Take a moment and recognize those members who are working to grow and strengthen your club with new members.

There is a lot of stuff planned for this year's convention and I can't wait to see you all there. We will be hosting our District caucus and our District Dinner on Friday of Convention. You are not going to want to miss this year's convention with Rudy Ruettiger from the Notre Dame classic during Opening Session. Visit the Kiwanis International website for more details.
