Message from the Governor

Greetings fellow Kiwanians,
Welcome to the 2017-18 Kiwanis year! My name is Justin Hahn and I am your District Governor. Something you may not be aware of is that this year marks 100 years of service for the Wisconsin Upper Michigan District. Throughout the year, we are going to celebrate the rich history of the past 100 years, while working to prepare for the next 100 years. This is truly going to be a momentous year for us all.
I would like to take a moment and recognize all of our leaders who are finishing up their 2016-17 terms. What you have done for this organization and your clubs is very much appreciated and the number of children's lives that you have touched through your leadership is remarkable. You have truly made a difference and I know you will continue to do so. For the new leaders, I want to say thank you for answering the call to step into your positions for the next year as we achieve new heights in our District. One of my main priorities as your Governor is to be your support. Whatever you need from me, even if you just need to bounce ideas off of someone, you let me know and together we will make history in Wisconsin Upper Michigan. Kiwanis is our superpower!
What's in store for the next year? Back in June, I asked the 2017-18 Board of Directors to take an honest look into our District and create a set of goals for us all to work towards. The purpose of this is to create a vision or a set of objectives for us to accomplish together. These goals are not just my goals or the Board's goals, they are the District's goals. I know that with over 150 clubs working together, we can all accomplish new heights by striving to not only achieve our goals, but to knock them out of the park. Here are the goals we are working to fulfill this next year:
1) Have a net membership increase of 100
2) Open at least 2 new clubs
3) Perform 100,000 service hours
4) Fundraise at least 1 million dollars
5) Have at least 210 attendees at Midyear Conferences (average of 70 per conference)
6) Have at least 75 clubs represented at District Convention (August 24-26, 2018)
7) Have at least 100 clubs reporting monthly
                                           DISTINGUISHED RECOGNITION
Kiwanis members, clubs, divisions and Districts can earn distinguished recognition during the 2017-18 year.  Learn how! If you have any questions about the Distinguished Recognition Program, please feel free to reach out.

The 2017-18 Governor's Project will be raising money for projects for both Camp Wawbeek and Camp Baycliff. Final details are being worked out at the moment, so please keep an eye out for more information. In the meantime, if you would like to make a contribution to the Governor's Project, please feel free to reach out to myself or Executive Director Mark Finger.
Lastly, I want to visit as many clubs this next year as I can. I want to come lend a hand at one of your projects. I want to come help on the streets in your community recruiting new members for your clubs. I want to come visit your club and provide information and/or training that your club is in need of. So, please feel free to invite me for a visit. While I do work full time, if I can plan far enough ahead of time, I can more than likely make it work with my schedule. I am excited to travel around the District and learn about all of the amazing things that the clubs are doing. I look forward to seeing you all very soon!
I thank you in advance for a truly remarkable year!
Yours Through Service and Dedication,
Justin Hahn
